Thomas L. Brookman, A.I.A.
Tom is an architect,
contractor and builder. Currently he is licensed in both Hawaii and California
as an architect. He
is experienced in residential, commercial and public buildings.
After 25 years as a designer,
project manager and inspector, Tom
retired from City of Los Angeles.
He worked for the Department of Water and Power, Recreation
and Parks, and as a consultant to the Community Redevelopment Agency
as surveyor and project manager. L.A. Department
of Water and Power is the largest publicly owned power, design and
construction firm.
Recreation and Parks is the
largest parks department in the country with more than 300 parks and
includes beach facilities, golf courses, museums, senior citizen
complexes, olympic sized pools, camps, observatory, historical
buildings and outdoor amphitheatre. From 1976 to 1986
the department provided the design, construction and post use of the
facilities for the 1984 Olympics.
Registered with ASTM as
a commercial project inspector, he took special classes to be
registered with ASTM and FEMA.
Post hurricane Iniki, as a
resident, he participated in the reconstruction of residences and
small commercial. That event precipitated his
interest in forensics of buildings, and why they fail.
Forensics and professional witness for litigation are another part
of his broad experience.
As a consultant to
International Valuation and Inspections, Inc., he did
Inspections and project management of large commercial
multi-complexes, for purposes of acquisitions and refinancing of
major companies.
Presently involved in residential and small commercial of all sizes
because of the high demand here of recent.
